SwedishAmerican Hospital Emergency Medical Services Program is offering a short course that will allow you to function as an EMT on your local ambulance service if you meet the following criteria:
- You have a current Illinois State RN, APRN, or PA license in good standing in accordance with the Illinois Nurse Practice Act.
- You have a current Healthcare Provider CPR card through American Heart Association.
- You live in or near a community with a population of 5,000 people or less.
- You complete the requirements for this program, which are:
- Twenty (20) hours of education (as outlined below).
- Eight (8) hours of observation ride time with an Illinois licensed ambulance agency.
- An orientation of ambulance equipment as part of the course or with approval of an Illinois ambulance agency.
- Completion of a Region 1 system entrance exam.
- You have a current Illinois State RN, APRN, or PA license in good standing in accordance with the Illinois Nurse Practice Act.

Course Dates: October 29th, 2025 - December 3, 2025 from 6-10 pm (see below)
Course Cost: $50.00 (due the first night of class)
Course Instructor: Richard Robinson
Course Approved By: Illinois Department of Public Health Division of EMS and Highway Safety
Credentialling and credentialling renewal will be discussed the first night of class.
