Presenting the Graduates of the 2026 Paramedic Class

The Paramedic Class of 2026 started with 21 students and ended with 21 graduates. Their accomplishments were celebrated at a ceremony and reception on July 16, 2026. All of us at UW Health-Northern Illinois

Beginning with the Paramedic Class of 2026 and going forward three students will be recognized for excellence in the academic setting of their careers.

The first award is the Valedictorian Award recognizing outstanding academic achievement and the highest overall performance. This year, the class valedictorian recognized was Tom Breitfuss.

The other two awards are given in memory of John Morgan, Paramedic from Harlem Roscoe Fire recognizing his gifts of EMS Excellence and Peer Mentorship. Jack Smith and Reece Palmer from Rockford Fire were reviewed by their peers and present their awards by the Morgan Family and members of the Harlem Roscoe Fire Department. ​

Registry EMS Educator. 


Per diem, varied schedule. Day/Evening shift, M-F, hours vary depending on classes and educational opportunities.

Work Experience
  • Prefer active EMT-P, RN with current field and teaching experience. Preferred
  • At least two years field experience in Emergency Services. Required
Licenses & Certifications
  • Within first year of employment must attain the following certifications; Advanced Cardiac Life Support Instructor, Pediatric Advanced Life Support Instructor, Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support Instructor, Basic Life Support Instructor. Required
  • Basic Life Support/CPR Certification. Required
  • Current Illinois Paramedic licensure within the State of Illinois. Required.

Qualifications:
