EMT Program
SwedishAmerican Hospital EMS System typically conducts EMT classes that begin in January and August every year. Classes are held two evenings per week. All potential students are required to complete an admission application prior to acceptance into the program. You must have a high school diploma or a GED certificate to enroll in the program. Students accepted into the program will complete a background check and provide proof of a variety of immunizations. Students are expected to follow an outlined code of conduct, maintain regular attendance, and complete lab and clinical requirements in order to successfully complete the class. Once class requirements are met the student will be eligible to take the National Registry exam. |
Paramedic Program
All high school graduates who hold a current EMT license from Illinois Department of Public Health may be eligible for admission to the SwedishAmerican Hospital EMS System Paramedic Program. Applications for admission to the paramedic program may be submitted as early as each April for the class that begins in late August/early September. Students accepted into the program will complete a background check, drug screening, provide proof of or obtain a variety of immunizations and complete the Nelson Denny Reading Comprehension exam. All paramedic students must procure an agreement with a paramedic level agency to complete field clinical experience. This agreement must be in place prior to the start of class. |
